| The standard was formulated for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, Marine Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Air pollution Prevention and Control Law and the Law of People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Pollution by Solid Wastes, intensifying control of pollutant discharge of citric acid industry and safeguarding human health and ecological balance. The standard features the following characteristics: 1. it applies to management of water and air pollutant discharge of citric acid companies, noise pollution control and disposal of solid wastes; 2. water pollutant discharge standard is set according to clean production technique and pollution control technology of the sector; 3. as for existing discharge sources, discharge standard of water pollutants are provided for different stages; 4. the discharge level of water pollutant is not graded. As the first of its kind, the standard shall replace related provisions of the General Standard for Sewage Discharge GB 8978-1996 upon its promulgation. |
