| The standard was formulated for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China with regard to the eleventh article which stipulates that the competent state department for environmental protection should establish monitoring system and specifications. The specification consists of rules on site distribution, sample collection, processing and testing, environmental impact assessment, quality assurance and appendixes. Monitoring procedures and technical requirements are provided in each section and the appendixes are all for reference. The specification is the first of its kind. |
