| This Standard specifies the classification principle for radioactive waste. It is applicable to all radioactive substances used during production, research and use as well as radioactive waste generated from the treatment, control and decommissioning processes. However, it is not applicable to the waste generated from the mining and mineral processing of uranium and thorium and their associated minerals. Environmental management of this kind of wastes may apply the current Standard. |
