I. China Environmental Statistics-2005 is prepared jointly by the National Bureau of Statistics, the State Environmental Protection Administration and other ministries. It is an annual statistics publication, with comprehensive data in 2004 and selected data series in last five years at national level and at provincial level (province, autonomous region, and municipality directly under the central government) and therefore reflecting various aspects of China's environmental development.
II. China Environmental Statistics 2005 contains 10 chapters: 1. General Survey; 2. the Freshwater Environment; 3. the Marine Environment; 4. the Atmospheric Environment; 5. Solid Wastes; 6. Eco-environment; 7. Natural Disasters; 8. Investment in the Treatment of Environmental Pollution; 9. City Environment; 10. Rural Environment. In addition, Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators are provided at the end of the yearbook.
III. The national data in this book do not include that of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province except for territory and forest resources.
IV. Notations used in this book:
" ..." indicates that the figure is not large enough to be measured with the smallest unit in the table;
"(blank) " indicates that the data are not available;
" # " indicates the major items of the total.
V.
