The land absorption dose rate of γ radiation is still the baseline of natural radiation. The radioactive neutrals in the environmental media was maintained within the range of the natural-level fluctuation. The overall environment in China is not yet affected by radioactive pollution. The quality of radioactive environment is maintained at the normal level.

In the surrounding area of radioactive pollution sources, the γ air absorption dose rate, specific activity of β radioactivity of aerosols and precipitation, concentration of radioactive neutrals of samples of water and animals were all maintained within the range of fluctuation of natural baseline. The results of monitoring of the surrounding areas of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station and Qingshan Nuclear Power Station show that the radioactive levels were unchanged and the average radioactive levels of total a and b in the drinking water met the national water quality standard for drinking water.

Surveillance and Management of Nuclear Safety The licenses for building two factories for nuclear fuel assemblies have been approved. The license for building the experimental fast-breed reactors has been issued and the approval document issued for the first fuel loading of the high-gas cooling test reactor. 22 institutions have been given the licenses for producing the pressure-retaining facilities. The radioactive environmental impact assessments have been completed for 28 nuclear facility construction projects and decommissioning projects.

Radiation pollution is the excessive radiation coming from human’s production, life and war, excluding the radiation from nature. Radiation pollution includes electromagnetism radiation pollution, nucleus radiation pollution and chemical element radiation pollution

 1. Electromagnetism radiation pollution

Electromagnetism radiation mainly comes from wireless broadcasting station and TV station, mobile communications, radar detection, electricity transportation and family equipment. Electromagnetism radiation has strong penetration power. High frequency electromagnetism radiation may penetrate the surface layer of organism and do harmful to cells of the body. Cells of body near microwave emission facility might be burnt up. Electromagnetism radiation being a sort of pollution is because its penetrating to organism.

In addition, electromagnetism radiation may disturb traffic, broadcasting, communication, etc.

There are high-radiating substances in nature such as Uranium, Ra, Plutonium that is called nucleus energy. Technique of using them is nuclear energy technique. Nucleus radiation pollution mainly comes from leakage from nuclear industry and nuke examination.

Nucleus radiation pollution may destroy body’s immune function, damnify skins, bones and cells of viscus. High consistency radiation may cause man or animal die in a short time and if man exposing in radiation, diseases such as Leucocythemia, cancer of bone and cancer of hypothyroid may come forth.

Light pollution means that light being excessively strong, overflow or fantasticality, interfering and doing harm to body.

Now glass, mirror glass, stainless steel and mirror granite are used for adorning the outside wall of buildings. These materials’ reflecting factors is tens of times higher than that of brick and stone. Light pollution may be formed if these materials are exposed to sunshine and mobile glisten objects.

Eyes’ feel to light comes from two kinds of phototonus cells. One is pyramidal cell adapting to light, the other is pole cell adapting to darkness. Alternation between light and darkness usually spend a few seconds or longer for eyes to accommodate. So urgent and disorder alternation between lightness darkness bring vision nerve turbulence and vision declination, even headache, dizziness, nausea, etc. Other diseases may come forth when man is exposed to light pollution for a long period.

People had no recognition to indoor environment before, especially that caused by family decoration. This situation has changed, people think much of its importance, which reflects that people’s recognition has enhanced. But it should be treated correctly and not cause overmuch intense, for there is no enough scientific evidence to testify there is direct relationship between decoration and cancer.

Currently, indoor decoration does bring many harmful substances, and the discomfort caused by these substances is called syndrome of ill building. The reason of calling it syndrome is that there are only some symptoms and it shouldn’t be confirmed as certain pathological changes. For example, formaldehyde contained in ornate materials stimulate viscous membrane of respiratory tract and eye conjunctiva, and cause some symptoms such as eyes dry and coarse, weep, and these symptoms will disappear when people leave the building. Although formaldehyde and Radon containing in cement and granite is the potential cancer caused factors, the taking place of cancer is also connected with some gene and circumstance factors, and a long period of time of about tens of years is needed.

Nowadays, buildings are always pressurized due to the prevalent use of air-condition. In these pressurized buildings, there exist Ammonia, Formaldehyde and volatility organic substance especially Ammonia pollution. People staying here often feel discomfort and stimulating odor, company symptom of headache, swirl, chest pressure, tired, gorge gall, skin hypersusceptibility. If people stay in this circumstance for a long time, it is harmful to their health and even causes some diseases, so corresponding measures must be taken. First, choose materials to reduce pollution; keep windows open to fasten the circulation of indoor air; use air cleaner, air changer, lampblack drawer and so on to filtrate and dilute air. Dispelling peculiar smell in virtue of incense and air clarifier only has an overcast function but can’t eliminate harmful substance radically. Further more, these substances are pollutants themselves.

Researchers suggested that correlative departments should promulgate sanitation standard of indoor air quality as soon as possible and strength periodical supervision.
