| MEP, General Administration of Customs and AQSIQ Establish Information Sharing Mechanism for Management and Law Enforcement of Import of Solid Waste |
An official in charge from MEP told media today that MEP, General Administration of Customs and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) jointly distributed the Circular of MEP, General Administration of Customs and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on Strengthening Sharing the Information on Management and Law Enforcement of Import of Solid Waste (Huanban No. [2011]141), officially establish the information communication and sharing mechanism (hereinafter referred to as "information sharing mechanism") at both national and local levels for management and law enforcement of import of solid waste.
This official said, with the information sharing mechanism, environmental protection, customs and quality supervision departments at all levels will mutually report in time the information on import of solid waste prohibited from import, import of solid waste not in line with national environmental protection control standards, transfer of the license for import of solid waste as well as suspected illegal movement of foreign solid waste into our country.
The establishment of the information sharing system will further facilitate sharing the information about management of import of solid waste and law enforcement of solid waste by environmental protection, customs and quality supervision departments, develop concerted efforts in supervision, raise law enforcement efficiency and further strengthen cracking down on illegal import of solid waste.
