Clean Production Standard  Iron & Steel Industry (Iron Alloy)£¨HJ 470-2009£© The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing the Law of the People's Republic of China on Environmental Protection and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Promotion of Clean Production, protecting the environment and providing technical support and guidance for iron & steel industry and iron alloy industry to conduct clean production.
The current standard specifies general requirement for clean production in iron & steel industry and iron alloy industry based on current industrial technology, equipment and management level and meeting national and local standards for pollution discharge.
The current standard has three grades. Grade I represents international advanced level of clean production. Grade II represents domestic advanced level and Grade III represents general level of clean production in China. It will have amendments at appropriate time with continuous progress and development of technology.
The current standard specifies general requirement for clean production in iron & steel industry and iron alloy industry. The current standard classified clean production indicators for iron & steel industry and iron alloy industry into the following four categories: i.e. technology & equipment requirements; resource & energy utilization indicators; waste recycling & reuse indicator and environmental management requirements.
¡¡ The current standard is applicable to clean production audit, judgment of potential and opportunities for clean production, clean production performance review, making public the clean production performance of alloy industrial enterprises that employ electric furnace to manufacture six kinds of products including silicon iron, high-carbon ferromanganese, manganese-silicon alloy, mid and low-carbon ferromanganese, high-carbon ferrochrome and ferrochromium with mid, low or trace concentration of carbon. It is also applicable to environmental management systems such as EIA and pollutant discharge license.
The current standard is the first version of its kind in China.
