Organize the formulation of the policies, programs and plans, laws, administrative regulations, departmental rules, institutions, standards and specifications for nuclear and radiation safety; organize the radiation environment monitoring and the inspection on local environmental authorities’ performance in managing the radiation environment; organize the emergency preparedness and response to nuclear and radiation accidents, and participate in the precautions against and handling of terrorism activities related to nuclear and radiation; responsible for the management of the qualifications of nuclear and radiation safety engineers and for relevant training programs; responsible for the regulation of nuclear materials and the administrative licensing of and the supervision and inspection on the design, manufacturing, installation, and non-destructive test of nuclear safety equipment; organize and coordinate the evaluation of the nationwide nuclear and radiation safety regulation performances; work as the focal point to communicate with Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center and the regional nuclear and radiation safety supervision centers on their internal development and relevant activities; responsible for the overall coordination of the Ministry’s three internal departments specialized in nuclear and radiation safety regulation.
