Bureau of Environmental Supervision and Inspection

Major Responsibilities:

Be responsible for the overall arrangement and coordination of major environmental issues and the supervision on law enforcement; draw up administrative regulations, rules and systems on environmental supervision and organize their implementation; supervise the implementation and enforcement of environmental guidelines, policies, programs, laws, administrative regulations, rules and standards; draw up environmental management systems such as the application for and registration of pollutant discharge, the pollution charging system and the system for treatment within a limited period, and organize their implementation; be responsible for the superintendence after environmental enforcement and the supervision on environmental infringements cases on the blacklist; instruct and coordinate the solution to major environmental problems and pollution disputes in local areas, local departments and across regions and watersheds; organize national campaign on inspection on environmental enforcement; organize the ecological environmental supervision work; organize the inspection on environmental enforcement and charging of pollution fees; organize the supervision and inspection on the implementation of “three simultaneities” system by construction projects approved by the State; establish the system of having environmental supervisors in businesses and organize the implementation; be responsible for the administrative punishment in environment field; guide the building of ranks for environmental supervision staff across the country and their professional work; guide the professional work of Center of Environmental Emergency Response and Accident Investigation and Environmental Protection Supervision Centers.
